Case Study: The Big Bag of Worries

Client: Child Protection Department, North and South Lanarkshire Council
Project: ‘The Big Bag of Worries’

Overview:

A creative media project designed in collaboration with North and South Lanarkshire Social Work Departments.

This innovative project involved fps media working with 2 primary schools in Lanarkshire teaching them the various skills involved in film making including scriptwriting, storyboarding, camera skills, directing, drama skills and editing.

The young people then dramatised and produced a short film based on the book ‘The Huge Bag of Worries’ book by Virginia Ironside which encourages young people to share their worries with someone.

The young people were thrilled to attend a premiere of their film at The Vue Cinema, Hamilton and the film is now used as a peer educational tool in schools across Lanarkshire to facilitate discussion and inform young people of their right to feel safe.

It was a pleasure working with fps media. Their sensitive approach brought out the best in the young people and enabled the young filmmakers to produce an excellent peer educational resource, exceeding all expectations. We have now worked with fps media on various exciting and innovative projects and look forward to working with them again in the near future.
